This access statement does not contain personal opinions as to our suitability for those with access needs, but aims to accurately describe the facilities and services that we offer all our guests/visitors.

Introduction

Ingram House was built in about 1740 as the farmhouse. Over the years there have been additions built, the last in about 1950 when the farm sold the house. It is situated in the Northumberland National Park near Alnwick.

With lovely walks from the front door into the Cheviot Hills where Stone Age and Iron Age settlements can be found, easy access to the coast and many of the Northumbrian castles, this is an ideal place to stay. The National Park Information Centre is a five minute walk away.

We offer three traditionally furnished ensuite bedrooms in our family home. Breakfast is taken in our spacious family dining room. We aim to create a relaxing atmosphere for our guests. We have been awarded 4*Silver by Visit Britain.

We look forward to welcoming you. If you have any queries or require any assistance please phone 01665 578906 or email [email protected].

Pre-Arrival

Easy access by car or walking. We are not particularly near any public transport. The nearest railway station is Alnmouth, which is about 20 miles away. Taxis can be arranged to collect guests from the station.

Car Parking and Arrival

Cars can be parked in our driveway from which there is easy access to our front door. The drive is gravelled and level and well lit at night. There is a small step up to the front door which takes you into a porch area and then through to the kitchen.

Welcome Area

Entrance is to the kitchen which has a wooden floor and then on to the hallway which again has a wooden floor partly covered by a rug. The stairs from here are carpeted. All areas used by guests are well lit.

Bedrooms

Our Garden room is on the ground floor and accessed up two steps. It has an ensuite shower room. The superking double and the double rooms are upstairs in a wing separated from the family rooms by a door and short corridor. Both these rooms have ensuite bathrooms.

Bathrooms, Shower-rooms & Toilets (Ensuite or Shared)

The bathrooms are furnished traditionally. Both have baths with hand showers attached to the bath taps. The bathroom attached to the double rooms has no window but is well lit and has an extraction fan.

Public Areas – Halls, Stairs, Landings, Corridors

The public areas used by guests are part of our family home. There are seventeen stairs up from the hall to the landing which is carpeted. There is one more small step up to the guest wing. All areas are traditionally furnished and hung with pictures.

Dining Room

The dining room  has recently been refurbished, it is spacious and traditionally furnished.  All guests eat at one table. This room is part of the original 18th century farmhouse which was a two up, two down building.  It is light and airy with views over a small part of the garden.

Garden

The two acre garden extends round the house and guests are very welcome to wander round. There are wooden seats at various points in the garden and tea is often served to guests on arrival outside if the weather permits. Guests are welcome to play croquet and other garden games if the weather permits.

Additional Information

Because of the layout of the house, and because the guest rooms are upstairs, it is not possible to accommodate people who are wheelchair- bound. Smoke detectors and fire extinguishers are in place and any assistance will be given should evacuation have to take place.

Future Plans

As in any family home there is an ongoing improvement plan in place which includes redecoration when necessary.
